Average cost per day: From 100 to 150 NZD per person per day excluding flights. There is no public transport on Niue so you will need a car and most accommodations will be able to provide you one. In 2024, we paid 160 NZD per day for two people including car for the accommodation.
How to get there: The only way to get to Niue is via New Zealand. Air New Zealand operates two flights per week from Auckland, on Tuesday and Saturday. Be aware that you will pass the international date line when you are travelling to Niue. Indeed, if you leave on Saturday from Auckland, you will arrive at Niue on Friday and you will again depart on Friday from Alofi to be in Auckland on Saturday. Always double check your booking dates!

When to go:
Winter (May- October): Despite being winter, the climate is normally warm and dry (it’s still a tropical island, expect some rain) and that’s why winter is the high season for Niue as well as for most of the Pacific Islands. Snorkelling and diving are the two main activities on the island and July/August are the best months for whale watching. Being less touristy than other Pacific Islands, it means that it might be harder to find fresh products as compare to the summer months.
Summer (November – April): Like in all the other Pacific Islands, the summer months are extremely hot and humid and there is higher chance to encounter a cyclone when you are on the island. There will be more fresh products on the island as compared to the winter months though…
