Safety: Good

When to go:

Spring (April-May): Spring is a good season to visit Georgia. Temperatures will rise after the cold winter and you will be able to hike along the velvety-green trails of the Caucasus Mountains surrounded by blossomed flowers and peaks covered in snow. Average temperature: 11 °C – 25°C

Summer (June – August): Summer months are the peak holiday months for Georgians, when tourist accommodations are crowded, and Tbilisi and the lowlands can get uncomfortably hot. We travelled in Georgia in August, the temperatures were not too high and it rained quite a lot particularly in Svaneti. Carrying a rain coat is always a good idea, even in Summer!  Average temperature: 15°C – 30°C

Autumn (September- November)/Winter (December – March): September and October are still “ok months” but be prepared for more unpredictable weather. November  and April mark the low and rainy season in Georgia, with temperatures sometimes dipping below freezing between December to March. If you plan to visit Georgia during these months, pack plenty of thermals and waterproofs as frequent rain can be expected. Average temperature: -3 °C – 15°C
